Adhering to a regimented Design Process has enabled the Cavitt Group to develop high quality and accurate printed circuit board designs.
The Design Process is described as follows:
- Customer Input
- Acquire customer's input in the form of schematics, parts list, net list, component specifications/data sheets and mechanical drawings.
- Acquire placement and routing instructions from customer
- Review general instructions and confirm understanding of technical materials with the customer.
- Determine if customer has own company standards/rules for their designs.
- Confirm deliverables with customer.
- Database Preparation.
- Convert netlist and parts list into PADS-PowerPCB format.
- Create custom parts/components
- Create board outline, cutouts, keepout zones plus incorporate any special mechanical considerations.
- Review netlist, board outline and mechanical data for adherence to customer requirements and standards.
- Parts Placement.
- Place any customer specific parts
- Place all other components
- Generate placement drawing and netlist report
- Review placement drawing and netlist internally and with the customer for accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Routing
- Review schematic and plan routing strategies
- Review customer's special routing instructions, if any
- Route any critical paths, then route remaining connections.
- Review trace widths and pad stackups for compliance to standards.
- Review routed design internally and with the customer.
- Documentation
- Review customer deliverables
- Generate manufacturing files (GERBER data and drill files)
- Generate printed wiring board fabrication and assembly drawings (pdf files), if required.
